Upper Oasis: the Ultimate Rooftops
Book Design, Transmedia Installation
Urbanization and usage of spaces, whether public or private, has been an ongoing topic for long. Upper Oasis is a book that investigates, from a number of perspectives, human uses and development of roof spaces. From architectural aesthetics to activities taking place at open-sky levels, we discover various possibilities above and below us, especially within urban environment. I began the discussion with the tower of Babel and ends with great imaginations of future sky-scrapers, this book also covers discoveries and massive researches in a timeline-based narrative. Rooftops' huge potential are not only proven by existed achievement, but also have been practiced with human being's best wishes: open sky.
Promotional posters and an information-guided installation were made along with this book. By displaying data-based facts of roofs in certain elevation (on ceiling, where the audience turn up their heads to watch), the possible future of roofs are visualized in rich languages.
Elevated Reversal is an installation which highlights various rooftop landscapes around the world. The form was designed and built to correspond the book's language. By guiding audiences to watch the projection located on ceiling elevation, this experience conveys the idea of re-discovering urban environment and its architecture in a vertical perspective.
